INSTITUTIONAL MISSION
To guarantee a strong, comprehensive and consistent formation of professionals who may reach a high preparation on basic sciences, playing an outstanding role in using their knowledge and a noteworthy specialization on issues related to safety, risks and management of science and technology. Students may also be attached to their social responsibility to promote and disclose research projects, technological and innovation enhancements so as contributing in a creative way to transforming the Cuban society.
INSTITUTIONAL VISION
Ours is a credited university of science and technology with significant values in well-recognized indicators and with steadfast and successful links with national and international excellence-ranked institutions, which have great and real impacts on high-priority fields for the scientific, technological and social domestic development. Our university has also achieved an effective interrelation of the academic and investigative components with issues related to the sustainable development.
Its mission is to seek and tell the truth, contribute to the academic, cultural and personal preparation of students, to promote scientific research and healthcare activities, provide appropriate development opportunities to its faculty and staff, and perform a wide cultural extension work and social development, having a crystal-clear service goal.
The primary functions of the InSTEC are:
- Providing university education in the field of various sciences, academic majors for students and provide appropriate learning media resources, library, information on scholarships and financial aids, so they can do their studies profitably.
- Promote scientific research in various fields of knowledge, for the benefit of teaching and as a way to provide knowledge to society and to encourage innovation and development.
- Contributing to the education of students through individual counseling, with proposals for the acquisition of skills and habits that encourage the development of personality in all its dimensions: cultural, artistic, religious, sports and solidarity.
- Liaise with the graduates of the University, through continuing education activities, and other cultural and social initiatives of the Alumni Association.
- Organize and update teaching specialization for college graduates, according to the trends and needs of the various professions.
- Grow the ties between the University and members of the Association of Friends and keep them informed of the fruits of their collaboration.
- Performing a task of cultural diffusion and university extension activities organized by the same university and also through initiatives in collaboration with other institutions.
- Cooperate with other universities and institutions of a university, such as hospitals, schools, business management, research centers, art centers, educational and development organizations.
